Topargex blocks must meet the strict requirements regarding compressive strength and weight. The blocks are easily identified thanks to the straps or the cover.

In the past few decennia Argex blocks have been successfully used in Belgium and Germany, and especially in Scandinavia, for various types of building projects. The concrete blocks are composed of Argex, cement and natural aggregates. They are manufactured in high-technological production units which guarantee the form and size stability, as well as the pressure resistance of the Topargex blocks. Thanks to the inherent features of the grains (40% entrained air, fired expanded clay) integrated in a concrete skeleton, many experts consider Topargex blocks provide the best combination of often conflicting characteristics such as bearing power, insulation, heat and acoustic comfort.

The energy crisis and the following insulation problems lead to a profound study and revision of the outside walls, roof and floor constructions of the buildings, in view of a perfect combination of price, quality, durability and comfort. This development resulted in an important restriction of heat losses. In our region, where weather conditions change from day to day, the restriction of heat losses is insufficient and the dynamic character of a wall, thus heat capacity, thermal inertia, surface temperature, etc., should be considered. Save thermal comfort other factors determine comfortable living: acoustic comfort, fire-resistance, durability and convenience (bore, mill, saw, etc.).

Topargex blocks comply with all these requirements. The blocks were developed in cooperation with some twenty block manufacturers, various research labs and universities. Moreover, the low weight of Topargex blocks guarantees easy processing and low transport expenses.
